sidenote, my dog eddie

if you've been paying attention, you know i have a little black dog named eddie. i rescued him from a shelter where he'd been recovering from pneumonia for two months last summer. he's about 3 years old and he's very friendly towards most people and most dogs, especially ones his own size. eddie pretty much has a split personality. he's either the sweetest lovey-dovey little mushface, or he's a completely insane psycho dog.

here are pictures detailing both sides of his personality:
(i'm snoozing while eddie is being sweet, notice the george w. bush squeakie toy)

never the basics, always the fancy stuff

kids don't want to stick to the basics. i've shown them how to start their blogs, and now they want to add videos and music and other fancy stuff.

i guess that means my homework over break is to find some good programs that aren't blocked in school that my kids can grab video and audio files from.

i'm also going to show them how to send themselves a video taken from their cell phone and upload it to their blogs.

i used this website: (http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/) to download a video (that i'm actually in!) from youtube, and then upload it to my blog. so as long as the video comes from a site that isn't blocked in school, hopefully we'll be putting videos on blogs as early as march 1.

yay! the video of me posted below was taken at the animal rescue i volunteer at. it's a video that's trying to help find a home for a dog (who has since been adopted) and also tells about how pit bulls are abused and used for fighting and how wrong that is.

Kids are Kids

We're making so much progress on these blogs and I'm so excited to see how into it my students are. Of course I do wish they were all blogging about "change the world" topics, I am happy to see them writing about topics that interest them.

Amazing Blogging Kids

On Friday, last week, I walked around the room while all of my students were either working in partners or individually on their blogs. I was amazed at some of the blogs I saw. One student is working on a blog about her culture and country. Another team is working on a blog giving Teen advice. There are several blogs about games, fashion, and sports. I can't wait to read all of them and keep up with their posts.

Congratulations to all of my students whose blogs are so much fun to read!
